Several special events, including an amateur photography contest, are planned during the month of March at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.
The event-filled month kicks off with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 9, for a new exhibit highlighting the work of gallery members in mixed media, photography, oils, acrylics, jewelry, fiber, clay, digital fine art, glass and more. The event will also feature a “Wine & Chocolate Tasting” featuring Belgium chocolates from Stuffed Chocolates and local wines.
“Wine, Women & Art, A Girl’s Night Out,” takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15, with artist Andrea Oswald. The theme of the event will be painting on glass with enamels, and participants get to take their artwork home that evening. Registration is required by March 13, and the cost is $25 per person.
“Exploration of Colored Pencil” with artist Cindi O’Mara, a great beginner class for aspiring artists, will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 and March 27. This is the first in a series of three two-part beginner sessions. Additional classes will take place on April 17 and 24, and on May 15 and 22. The cost of each two-night session is $38, and the deadline to register for the first class is March 17.
Come and try something new during “Try-It Saturday,” taking place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 24. This session will be a card-making class introducing stamping, collage, wire and beads to create a set of six cards with matching envelopes. All supplies and morning coffee are included, and the cost is just $20. Please register by March 21.
Enjoy The Journey will also host a photo contest for amateur photographers in March. “The Landscape of Western New York” is open to amateur photographers who may submit up to three 8- by 10-inch photos. There is an entry fee of $15 and photos need to be mounted on foam-core board. Several members of the gallery will serve as judges, and prizes will be awarded. The drop-off deadline is March 27, and a reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. March 31 to announce the winners. Photo contest applications are available on the gallery’s website.
