Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts presents The Mousetrap, an Agatha Christie mystery. The story is about a young couple, Mollie and Giles Ralston, who have started up a new hotel in the converted Monkswell Manor. They are snowed in together with four guests and an additional traveler, who ran his car into a snowdrift. Detective Sergeant Trotter arrives on skis to inform the group that he believes a murderer is on his way to the hotel, following the death of Miss Maureen Lyon in London.
When one of the guests is killed, they realize that the murderer is already there. Although the suspicion falls first on Christopher Wren, an erratic young man who fits the description of the supposed murderer, it quickly transpires that the killer could be any one of the guests, or even the hosts themselves.
The play is directed by Travis Hedland, a senior theatre major at Performing Arts, and stars Erica Rashley, Jay Dref, and a cast of high school students. Part of the proceeds from this production will used to support one of our own students who is currently battling cancer.
The Mousetrap will be presented on the BAVPA Mainstage (450 Masten Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14209) on Friday, January 25th at 7:00PM and Saturday, January 26th at 4:00 PM. Tickets cost $3 for students and $6 for adults and can be purchased at the door or by calling 816-4220.
