Enjoy The Journey to host many events

Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, a unique West Seneca shop featuring a wide variety of artwork and gifts created by local artisans, will host several events during the month of February.

The popular Wine, Women & Art series, a “girls’ night out” with friends during which participants create a piece of art to take home, continues from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, with artist Andrea Oswald. Participant are asked to register by Jan. 31 by calling 675-0204. The cost of the class is $25.

An opening reception for the “Touch of Funky” exhibit, which will include paper maché, works in clay and paintings featuring artists Andrea Oswald, Janet Vedder and Paulette Krakowski, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10. The opening event is free and open to the public and the exhibit will run from Feb. 8 through March 3.

Free-form weaving classes with artist Marleta Stansberry will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22 and Feb. 29. During the first class, participants will create simple looms, develop ideas for a small weaving and create a piece by the end of the evening. At the second class, guests will create simple looms, use designs developed during the first class and start weaving. Interweaving and loose, free-form weaving will be demonstrated. Finishing off pieces with beads or other items will also be shown. The cost is $38 and supplies are listed online at www.etjgallery.com. Please register by Monday, Feb. 20.

Try-It Saturdays continue from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 25. This mixed media session with artist Paulette Krakowski will include working on a canvas with papers, acrylic paint, paste, gels, plastic film and other embellishments. Participants will be exploring colors, shapes, line, texture, design, composition and balance. The cost is $20 and registration is required by Feb. 23. Supplies are included but guests may bring any photos or copies of photos they would like to incorporate in their work.

Please note that the gallery will be closed for winter break from Saturday, Feb. 11, through Friday, Feb. 17.
