The world’s top synchronized skating teams are set to compete at 2011 Synchro in the City — London Synchrofest International, taking place Dec. 28-29 in nearby London, Ontario. Presented by Freedom 55 Financial, teams will compete for $50,000 in prize money!
This is the first time this amount of prize money has been offered to teams in competition. Countries currently committed to sending world-class teams to the event are Canada, the United States of America, Japan, Russia and Finland.
“This is a groundbreaking event that we hope will stimulate the local economy and profile more fully the athletic skill and artistry of synchronized skating,” said John Winston, general manager of Tourism London. “This is an exciting, creative initiative and we are pleased to offer this family event over the holiday season.”
The competition takes place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 (short program) and Thursday, Dec. 29 (free program) in the John Labatt Centre, located at 99 Dundas St. in downtown London. Ticket prices are $26.75 for a single day pass, or $48.50 for an all-event pass. For more information, visit http://www.johnlabattcentre.com/calendar/122011-28.html.
