Dog Ears Bookstore will host a book-signing event with Jeff Schober, author of “Broken and Profane,” at 6 p.m. Friday, December 16. The nonprofit bookstore is located at 688 Abbott Road in South Buffalo.
“Broken and Profane” is the third book written by Schober, who also penned “Bike Path Rapist” with Detective Dennis Delano and the novel “Undercurrent.” It was published by Buffalo-based publishing company No Frill Buffalo.
Rich in characterization, “Broken and Profane” is crime fiction that resonates with authenticity, exposing the underside of society and the men entrusted with keeping order. Set in Buffalo in 1980, a serial killer is stalking victims. The first murder, from the balcony of City Hall, becomes his signature. Two detectives are partnered on the case, but there is bad blood between them. Against a backdrop of crooked cops, drug dealers and other interesting characters, tension mounts as the net narrows on the killer.
