What sets one school apart from another? For some parents it may be all about test scores, while others might consider a school’s anti-bullying efforts, extracurricular activities or technology in the classrooms.
At Annunciation School in Elma, you might hear parents talking about the positive impact of smaller class sizes, structure, and qualified and dedicated teachers who truly care about the success of their students. But there are many issues that need to come together to be considered a well-rounded school. Several of those issues are listed below:
Affordability: Catholic education is affordable! Scholarship money and tuition assistance is available, primarily through the BISON Fund, which is now open to residents throughout Western New York. Please visit www.bisonfund.com for more information.
Technology: Annunciation School is home to an outstanding computer lab, as well as SMART Board or SMART Table technology in all classrooms and nearly all specialty rooms.
Sports: In addition to twice weekly physical education classes, Annunciation offers students an opportunity to participate on competitive basketball, track, softball, volleyball and soccer teams. Ski Club is also a popular option.
Clubs & Extra-curricular Activities: From musical programs to a wide variety of clubs, Annunciation students are enriched with opportunity! Reading, Math and Drama Clubs give students additional outlets for their creative talents.
Welcoming Environment: While Annunciation is a faith-based school rooted in Catholic education, it respects and welcomes families of all religious faiths.
Updated Facilities: From new floors to state-of-the-art technology, Annunciation continues to invest in the school’s classrooms and offices. Several new projects are currently under discussion.
Parental Involvement: Annunciation welcomes and values parental and family involvement in the education process. Participation is highly encouraged!
Transportation: Annunciation currently serves the Alden, Alexander, Attica, Cheektowaga, Depew, East Aurora, Iroquois, Lancaster, Orchard Park and West Seneca school districts. Students within a 15-mile radius receive busing through their school district.
Emphasis on Health & Safety: The Center for Health Science at Annunciation School is a unique and innovative two-year curriculum, broken down into six trimesters, that offers students a hands-on opportunity to receive health certifications, prepare research projects, explore health career opportunities, and delve into subjects such as safety, fitness, ecology and drug awareness.
The faculty and staff at Annunciation invite families to tour the school — Pre-K3 through Grade 8 — and participate in open house events and shadowing activities. To schedule a visit, please contact the school office, located at 7580 Clinton St., at 681-1327.
