Dog Ears to host holiday events, authors

Dog Ears Bookstore, a nonprofit neighborhood bookstore located at 688 Abbott Road in South Buffalo, will host two upcoming holiday events.

A limited number of tickets remain for Brunch with Santa Claus, taking place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the bookstore. Santa will be available for photos and will be checking lists to see who has been nice! The event will be catered by Charlie O’Brien’s. To reserve your spot, call Dog Ears at 823-2665. Santa will remain at the store after the brunch event to meet with any other children who come to visit the bookstore.

Also on Dec. 4, bookstore customers can meet Nancy Lee Canfield. Canfield, author of “A Rose for My Mother,” a memoir that chronicles her troubled childhood and discovery of the paranormal world, is also a motivational speaker, founder and executive director of the Psychical Research Awareness Association. She has been recognized by Cambridge Who’s Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in parapsychology.

Santa Claus will return to Dog Ears from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, for a special Christmas Extravaganza on the bookstore’s second floor. There will be crafts, music, special guests and a baked goods sale. The event is open to the public.

Two authors — Tess Almendarez Lojacono and Mark Privateer, will also be on hand during the Dec. 9 event. Almendarez Lojacono will read from her debut novel, “Milagros.” Privateer is the author of “How to Tame a Macker,” a children’s book recently published by No Frills Buffalo.
