Best Neighbor Award!
On Columbus Day of this year, the bait shop, on Route 425, owned by my husband was suddenly and temporarily closed. While Peter was out back checking his tree stand in preparation for the opening of Deer Season, he ran into trouble. No, he didn’t take his cell phone with him.
When he didn’t return after two hours, I became worried and decided to try and find him between customers, as I am a hair dresser. I saw his vehicle but not him. On my way back to my shop, I told a neighbor about my concern.
This first neighbor didn’t hesitate to go out looking for my husband. He found him. Peter had fallen out of his tree stand; a wooden one. One of the ladder steps had broken and he fell about 12 feet and landed on his back onto a branch, that broke a vertebra.
The next neighbor to be thanked is all of the South Wilson Fire Company Volunteers. What fantastic rescuers they are!
The wife of our first neighbor went on the computer and found me 2 routes to ECMC. At that time, my patience for the computer was shot. They, also, made sure that Peter’s vehicle was driven home.
Our next door neighbor and her daughter met me at the hospital. They stayed for hours with me. Her daughter-in-law works at the hospital and was a lot of help. This neighbor made sure that I had something to eat and watched over me.
Another neighbor helped with our two dogs AND she mowed our lawn twice.
Another neighbor lent Peter her walker so he could move around, when he got home.
Yet, another neighbor helped out with our small farm animals.
Peter is on the mend now; and we will be looking forward to seeing his customers return to the bait shop soon.
WE HAVE THE BEST NEIGHBORS…many thanks,
