The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a Western New York tradition featuring more than 30 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local products, is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine. Providing musical entertainment at the open-air venue this week, Oct. 29, will be violinist David Adamczyk. Wine-tasting will be courtesy of Leonard Oakes Estate Winery.
The market welcomes several community groups this Saturday, including the Richmond Ashland National Register Historic District Initiative, Border Community Service Project, Alpaca Play Pen and the SPCA Whisker Wag’n.
Also, the Elmwood Village Association will hold its annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event from 1 to 3 p.m., immediately following the market. Children and parents are invited to visit businesses along Elmwood Avenue to receive a treat. There will also be plenty of pumpkins available for sale at the market, along with other Halloween favorites like apples and apple cider!
An Electronic Benefit Transfer system is in place at the market for the 2011 season. The EBT system allows individuals and families receiving public assistance to purchase products from eligible market vendors. And now, the market is also participating in the Fresh Checks program. For every $5 worth of tokens that you purchase at the market using your EBT card, you will receive a Fresh Checks coupon worth an additional $2. Buy $20 worth of tokens with your EBT cards, and you'll receive an additional $8 in Fresh Check coupons, redeemable at participating market vendors. Visit the Elmwood Village table this Saturday for details!
