For the past few years, Erie 1 BOCES students have helped with the Music Is Art Festival

Experience That Rocks

Robby Takac, Goo Goo Dolls bassist, will visit Erie 1 BOCES Harkness Career Center on Thursday morning to speak with the TV and sound students about their role at this weekend's Music Is Art Festival.

High school seniors enrolled in the TV and Sound Production program at Erie 1 BOCES Harkness Career & Technical Center will be participating in the Music Is Art Festival on Saturday, September 17 in Delaware Park. The students will volunteer their time and talents in exchange for real-world work experience.

Festival founder Robby Takac requested the technical assistance of the BOCES students to help record the event, which features over 60 musical artists. Under the direction of their BOCES teachers, Marc Hunt and Joseph Mattimore, the students will be working on stage with sound equipment, videotaping band performances and taking photographs.

Music Is Art Festival is an annual event to raise money for the Music Is Art Foundation, which helps promote music within schools and provide musical instruments to programs in need. The event will occur this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. To learn more about the event visit: http://musicisart.org/Festival.html.
