EBFM lists events for July 16

The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a Western New York tradition featuring more than 30 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local products, is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine. Providing musical entertainment at the open-air venue this week, July 16, will be Sara Elizabeth from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vicki Schneider of Expressive Glass will also be on hand to provide a creative demonstration for market guests.

The market also welcomes several community groups this week, including the Buffalo Animal Shelter, Lexington Cooperative Market, Health Sciences Charter School, and Assumption Church and Our Lady of Black Rock School. Liberty Vineyards & Winery and Leonard Oakes Estate Winery will offer wine-tasting.

A new Electronic Benefit Transfer system is in place at the market for the 2011 season. The EBT system allows individuals and families receiving public assistance to purchase products from eligible market vendors. And now, the market is also participating in the Fresh Checks program. For every $5 worth of tokens that you purchase at the market using your EBT card, you will receive a Fresh Checks coupon worth an additional $2. Buy $20 worth of tokens with your EBT cards, and you'll receive an additional $8 in Fresh Check coupons, redeemable at participating market vendors. Visit the Elmwood Village table this Saturday for details!
