The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a Western New York tradition featuring more than 30 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local products, is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine. Providing the entertainment at the open-air venue this week will be violinist Griffin Saiia from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Chef Avi Altman of Obviously Avi Catering will also be stopping by the market for the season’s first cooking demonstration.
The market also welcomes several community groups this week, including the Lexington Cooperative Market, KidBiz and the Buffalo Animal Shelter. Schulze Vineyards & Winery and Liberty Vineyards & Winery will offer wine-tasting.
A new Electronic Benefit Transfer system is in place at the market for the 2011 season. The EBT system allows individuals and families receiving public assistance to purchase products from eligible market vendors. Information is available every week at the market’s Elmwood Village tent.
