Pet Connection Programs Inc., a nonprofit maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla, has several community events planned throughout the month of July. The shelter has been placing animals into loving homes throughout Western New York since 1984.
From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 16 and 30, Pet Connection volunteers will be at the new Lancaster Outdoor Market located in the Aurora Street parking lot between Broadway and Pleasant Avenue. While at the market on July 30, Pet Connection will host a fun day of dog contests, including best trick, ugliest dog and best dog and owner lookalike. Contest registration will take place from 8 to 9 a.m., with the competition beginning at 10 a.m. There is a $5 entry per contest, and great prizes will be awarded.
Volunteers will also be selling pet totes filled with treats for dogs and cats at the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 9 and 16. Puppies will be there to greet visitors as well.
From July 12-15, Pet Connection will be participating in Old Home Days in Williamsville. Hours are noon to 11 p.m. daily. And from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 23, Pet Connection volunteers will be grilling up some delicious hot dogs and burgers at the Valu Home Center store in East Aurora.
