Scholarships: Burgard to Canisius

Three Burgard High School seniors will be attending Canisius College under the Canisius' Opportunity Programs for Education (COPE) and the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) Program. They are, from left, Tek Dhakal, Raven McEachin and Christopher Chiles. The student will pay from nothing to $2,000 per year for tuition, dependent on finances.

The program covers the cost for all books, a six-week summer program, and year-round tutoring and mentoring. According to Principal Brian Wiesinger, the application process takes much into account before final acceptance into the program. The students and school staff started the process in October, and Wiesinger says, “We are so glad that it has all paid off in the end.”
