The Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education Division is pleased to announce that Associate Superintendent for Educational Services, Will Keresztes, was awarded the New York Association for Continuing/Community Education (NYACCE) Service Award 2011. The distinguished honor is a single statewide award for individual who makes outstanding contributions to Adult Education. The award was presented at the 60th annual NYACCE conference in Saratoga Springs, NY at its recent recognition ceremony, held in Saratoga Springs, NY, on May 2.
Most notably, Keresztes is known throughout the Division for his advocacy of Adult Education programs and services within the District, and throughout the Buffalo community. He has been instrumental in creating critical linkages with the District’s educational recovery program. In addition, Mr. Keresztes has been a strong proponent of the need for adult literacy in our community, and seeks out ways to ensure that the Division is viewed as the viable educational alternative for those adults in need of a high school credential.
According to Keresztes, “It's a privilege and honor to receive this award in the presence of so many professionals who dedicate their careers to giving adults a second chance. I especially thank the Buffalo team under Director Les Leopold for making this award possible and for the great work they perform on behalf of thousands of adults of all ages in Buffalo. We have a lot of work to do--not just in Buffalo, but statewide in assuring that we create multiple pathways for students to earn credentials that prepare them for college or career.”
He added, “Creating systems that have only one pathway have left too may adults behind. I promise this organization and I promise my Buffalo team that this award will inspire me to do more--much more--to bring new credentialing and workforce preparation opportunities for any adult who wants them.”
