Hutch Tech to Compete in Elite Run

Hutchinson Technical High School Coach David Sardo is very proud of his runners, as 4 students each from the cross country and track teams make their way to the Penn Relays at the end of April.

Students Dannie Wea, Charles Garner, Emmanuel Cott and John Cherry will compete in the 4 x 100 relay, while Jamarr Chandler, Nick Serediuk, Aruro Salas and Verdall Cole will run the 4 x 400 relay.

Sardo says that he and co-coaches Dallas Bell and Bob Merkle decided to seek an opportunity above the normal for the team. So when West coach and Section VI indoor Track Chair Pete Szymanski reiterated his yearly offer for the Hutch team to join Sweet Home and West Seneca in the Penn Relays, Sardo bit.

The Penn Relays take place at Franklin Field on the campus of Penn University in Philadelphia, Pa. There will be high school and college athletes from around the nation, as well as well as world-class athletes. Sardo and Bell will make the trip with the team.

“The team [motto is] that our work is as good as anyone else's," Sardo says, “We certainly expect to be competitive in our races and to represent Buffalo, Hutch-Tech and ourselves with effort, class and character!”
