Pet Connection Programs Inc., a nonprofit maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla, has several community events planned during the month of May. The shelter has been placing animals into loving homes throughout Western New York since 1984.
A Mother’s Day Pork Chop Dinner and Concert will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Marilla Fire Hall, located at Two Rod Road and West Avenue. Tickets are priced at $15 per person, pre-sale only, and can be reserved by calling the shelter at 652-0192. A basket auction will also take place during the event, which will feature entertainment by the Easy Street Big Band.
From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 21 and 28, Pet Connection volunteers will be at the new Lancaster Outdoor Market, located in the Aurora Street parking lot between Broadway and Pleasant Avenue.
Volunteers will be selling pet totes filled with treats for dogs and cats at the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14 and 28. Puppies will be there to greet visitors as well.
For those interested in adopting a dog or cat from Pet Connection, adoption hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the shelter.
