A totally free village-wide holiday event in Lovejoy’s business district will feature Santa and free prize drawings.
East Lovejoy Coalition of Neighbors block club in conjunction with our village’s businesses are presenting a holiday open house. Our goal is to familiarize our neighbors with what our businesses have to offer, as well as spread some cheer and goodwill. The event will take place December 8, 2007 from 4-6 PM on East Lovejoy Street between Goethe Street and Bailey Avenue in Buffalo, New York.
Patrons will visit area merchants to learn about their businesses, perhaps have a cookie or treat, and receive a free raffle ticket from each establishment they visit. They will then deposit the entries at Santa’s Headquarters. Santa’s headquarters will be at Madame Mocha’s Espresso Pub and Bistro, at 1190 East Lovejoy Buffalo, New York 14206. Santa will draw the winner(s) at the end of the event. There will be music and holiday goodies at Santa’s Headquarters, as well as Santa himself.
The East Lovejoy Coalition of Neighbors (ELCoN) is one of the largest block clubs in the city, being village-wide as opposed to merely a block or two. We recently celebrated our second anniversary, and have had very well-attended events in the past. Our National Night Out (held in August) was the largest in the city according to several sources for two years running. ELCoN sponsors essay contests, children’s games for other organization’s events, participates in neighborhood clean-ups, works closely with Councilmember Fontana regarding neighborhood issues, successfully blocked two unsavory businesses from opening in our village, and instituted the first Neighborhood Watch program in Lovejoy.
