Pee Wee Hockey - It was "Their Time"

It was reminiscent of when Coach Herb Brooks told Team USA that if they played the Soviets ten times that the Soviets would probably win nine. But not that night, that night was "their time" when Team USA finally defeated the Soviets and went on to win the gold medal at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid NY. So much was the same for the Hamburg Islanders when they faced off in the final championship game against the mighty Hamburg White Sabres for the Pee Wee Championship at Hamburg Ice Arena Sunday March 27th. The Hamburg Islanders lost to the Hamburg White Sabres in every match up during the regular season and in the divisional playoff round. But this time was “their time” when the Hamburg Islanders won the right to claim the Ultimate Championship for the 2010-2011 Hamburg Pee Wee House League. The continuously improving offensive puck presence of the Islanders netted two goals to the Sabres’ one in the final championship game. The final moments was a nail-biter for fans on both sides of the puck as the Sabres pulled their goalie in favor of the extra attacker in an effort to try to tie the game. But solid defense and resilient goaltending by the net-minders shut the door on the Sabres securing the right to engrave the name Islanders on the Hamburg Championship Trophy. Both teams played their hearts out. Pictured on the Champions Team is:
Head Coach: Ben Hornquist. Assistant Coaches: Mark Wolbert, Matt Brzozowiec and James Moore.
Players: Paul Hackathorne, Devin Doyle, Matt Hornquist, Owen Bean, Thomas Disimone, Matt Bull, James Pollinger, Thomas Wolf, Evan Shanley, Tom Hayes, James Moores, Joe LoTempio, Adam Brzozowiec, Zachery Boling, Ethan Falzone, and Matt Pierino.
