Supermoon over Niagara Falls

It was closest to the Earth in 18 years.
Last night's full moon was be a super perigree moon. This rare celestial event happens when the moon reaches the closest possible point of its orbit around the Earth. It was roughly 14 percent bigger and about 30 percent brighter.

The Moon orbits the Earth in an elliptical orbit. The Moon reaches perigee once per orbit. (About 28 days) The interesting thing about this perigee was that it happened almost the exact time of full moon.
