Now that the holidays are behind us, who could blame you for looking forward to a little rest and relaxation? So go ahead, put on your favorite music, light the fire and pour yourself a glass of wine from Schulze Vineyards & Winery. A Western New York and Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market favorite, Schulze offers a wide variety of wines, including sparkling and dessert wines.
While Schulze Vineyards has been in operation for more than 40 years, the winery just opened its doors in 2007. Situated on 122 acres of land in Niagara County, just minutes from the south shore of Lake Ontario, it offers a gorgeous country setting with spectacular views of the vineyards.
“By growing our own grapes, we are able to produce quality wine,” said proprietor Martin Schulze. “Our wines, still and sparkling, are from vinifera grapes which include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The hybrids include Siegfried Riesling and Vidal Blanc. Native Labrusca are Niagara, Concord and Catawba.”
“Our sparkling wines are fermented in the bottle using the classic French tradition, Methode Champenoise,” added Ann Schulze. “Our crackling line is sweet and fruity and is a great picnic or party bubbly. Dessert wines are our RCR Port and Vidal Ice Wine. Our dedication to quality, along with the pride in the grapes we grow, is apparent in each handcrafted bottle.”
In addition to carrying an outstanding selection of locally produced wines, Schulze also offers a wide range of wine-themed gifts and accessories. With everything from wine tote bags to T-shirts, you’re sure to find something for anyone.
Schulze’s tasting room can accommodate up to 50 guests for dinner and up to 100 for a stand-up gathering. It’s the perfect destination for class reunions, rehearsal dinners and more.
