Bob McKeown Named NCCC Athletic Director

SANBORN, N.Y. — Bob McKeown, a former NCCC athlete and NCCC head coach, has been named Athletic Director, respectively, Niagara County Community College VP for Student Services and current Interim AD Bassam Deeb announced today on the Sanborn campus.

“We had a very robust search for this position and were extremely satisfied with the group of finalists that visited the campus,” stated Bassam Deeb. Deeb continued “At the end of the day, I agreed with the search committee’s recommendations that Bob McKeown provides us the ability to effectively communicate with various constituents including the staff, divisional and institutional fit, familiarity with the Community college environment in SUNY, and familiarity with the local culture (both campus and the local high school athletic community).”

NCCC President Dr. James P. Klyczek, echoed Deeb’s sentiment regarding McKeown. “I am happy to see someone who has been so dedicated to NCCC and its students be selected as the next Athletic Director” states James P. Klyczek. “With Bob we are sure to be able to push forward with the athletic enhancement plan that has seen campus wide support.”

McKeown will begin his duties as Athletic Director in November, after a brief transition period from his current duties in Admissions. “My goal is to help student athletes and their parents to see that NCCC is a great place for not only a quality education but also a place where students can enhance their overall college experience by continuing their athletic playing careers,” said McKeown.

McKeown brings over thirteen years of Junior College experience to the table. He has served as NCCC’s Assistant Men’s Basketball coach, Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Head Softball Coach, and Sports Information Director. He is a decorated athlete and has been recognized as a member of the Athletic Wall of Fame at Starpoint High School and at Niagara County Community College.
