ARCADE, NY - Snowmobile Drag Racing with No Snow? What an event! Sunday, 10/17/2010. They started with 80 registered snowmobiles and it turned into almost 200 registered sleds before the day was over. The Tri County Drifthoppers, the area’s local snowmobile club held an event of ages from 10 and up to drag race there snowmobiles on a beautiful warm Sunday afternoon with no snow in Arcade, NY. It was the First Annual Snowmobile Grass Drag Event in Wyoming County, normally this is a February Winter event however this year they setup four 500 foot drag lanes with Vintage, Trail Stock, 4-Stroke and even Kitty Kat snowmobiles. Speeds from 8 mph in the Kitty Kat Class snowmobiles to over 100 mph in the modified. Jeff Sills Driver of the Arctic Cat 1000 from Springville, New York wears Michael Kintner’s High Definition Video Equipment from Olean, NY and shows us what’s it like to go from 0 to 95 mph in 500 feet. What a great fun filled event for all ages.
