Arcade Bicentennial Harvest Festival Oct. 20
The Arcade area will conclude its yearlong 200th birthday celebration with a Bicentennial Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 20. To be held at the Arcade Fireman’s Grounds on North Street, the event will highlight the area’s rich agricultural heritage, and culminate the festivities that have taken place all year in recognition of this historical milestone.
The festival will include a farm and craft market, farm implement displays, theme basket auction, quilt raffle, antique appraisals, an apple pie bakeoff and musical entertainment all day. Old-fashioned country-style meals will be served, and a limited number of people will be able to tour a modern dairy farm. Souvenirs will be available and folks will be able to mark their place in history by participating in the filming of a video scrapbook.
As part of the fun, a giant pumpkin weigh-off, pumpkin carving contest and pumpkin pie-eating contest will be held at Ressler’s Corn Maize at Rt. 98 N and East Arcade Rd.
At 3:00 p.m. a Grand Parade will wind its way down Main Street (Rt. 39) in Arcade, and fireworks at 9:00 p.m. will serve as a grand finale to the day’s activities.
Everyone is invited to join in the fun from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. that day. Arcade is located on Rt. 39, just a beautiful fall drive from the Buffalo or Olean areas.
