Home Forever,abandoned puppy!!

Smokey, our boy was an abandoned puppy in Delavan ten years ago when he was only six months old. Famished, ribs showing and left out in the cold with 4-5 feet snow drifts. When my husband would go huntin, like very first weekend of hunting season he(Smokey)jumped out from nowhere when my husbnd was bringing all his hunting gear down a path that led to the cabin, totally shocked him and he didnt know if he was a dog or a fox at the time but soon realized he was a pup. To try to make this as shor t as possible, the dog followed him to the cabin and kept looking in the big front picture window while my husband was unloading and getting a fire started to heat up the cabin. My husband wasnt sure but thought maybe he belonged to the people at the top of the hill where ther were other dogs they had so he tried to shoe him away. Well this went on for three hunting weekends and when my husband would wake up there he was, Smokey looking inthe window. Finally, the fourth weekend it was quite obvious by Smokeys appearance hungry and cold that he was abandoned. Don't know why he's beautiful and his tempermant is loving. We think because he was a runt of a shepard mix they just didnt care about him. The said thing is the poor little pup was freezing and starving smf it esd hunting season and he could of very easily been mistaken for a deer and had gotten shot or hit by those huge snow plows in Delavan. That year in November was alot of snow and at least 4-5 feet at the cabin. So he brought Smokey in the cabin a couple of times each weekend towarm up and give him something to eat. But by the fourth week like I said previoulsy my husband brought him in again fed him some chunky soup and then gave him a bone and put his face down right next to him to see if he would snap or be nasty( he did it to test his tempermant)for we have five grandchildren and needed to know how his personality ws.Well Smokey did nothing and let the bone go, no growling, biting or anything thats when my husband knew, thats it, this poor neglected, left to die was ccoming home with him. When my husband got home which was unusual because it was a day early and very very late on a Saturday night, midnight to be exact he asked me honey go look at the big deer I got in the truck, I said are you crazy I dont want to see no dead poor frozen deer(I hate hunting),well he kept on pleading with me to go see it so I hesitantly went and there looking out of the back slinding window of the truck was that little tiny pup. I was escstatic brought him in the house and he's been a blessing to our family now for ten wonderful years. Sorry this was so long but just had to tell you the whole story of Smokey. He has been a heaven sent!! Thank you for reading! Sincerely Koren
