BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) - Hundreds of refugees resettle in Buffalo every year, and February's Women In Leadership honoree is giving many of them the best chance at a new life.

Molly Short Carr is the Executive Director of Journey's End Refugee Services. She has been at the helm for more than five years. She and her 47 employees are dedicated to helping those seeking asylum here in Western New York learn our culture and become productive members of our community. Journey's End offers several programs from learning English to preparing refugees to find jobs.

Molly found this career path unexpectedly. The Tonawanda native planned to study meteorology, but discovered her passion working with refugees while doing community service at Canisius College.

The United States has a long legacy of reaching out to those being persecuted in their homeland and welcoming them into our country. Molly is committed to continuing that mission to not only enrich their lives but to help make our community stronger and more diverse.
