"I have always been passionate about women. That's my number one key value," says Heather Filipowicz.
Heather has taken that passion and created a successful career as head of the WNY Women's Foundation, a non-profit organization that is responding to the needs of the area's women and girls.
65 percent of single moms are living in poverty in Western New York, and it's not just difficult for them and their children, it's a strain on the entire community.
Breaking that cycle is a goal of the WNY Women's Foundation. Its million dollar endowment is investing in several local programs, including those that help women save money to open their own business or buy their first home.
It's a dream job for Filipowicz, a lifelong feminist, who talks about her commitment to the sisterhood and believes in leaning in to help more women rise to the top.
Filipowicz admits progress doesn't happen overnight, but she knows the work of the WNY Women's Foundation is changing lives and making our community stronger.
