It's time to start tuning up the snowblowers, as cold air will fire up the lake effect snow guns this weekend.
A strong storm system will move through the Great Lakes on Saturday, bringing gusty winds greater than 40 mph and steady rain to all of Western New York.
Rain will change to snow late Saturday night into Sunday. At this point, the band of lake effect snow will start in ski country and may stay there through the day Sunday. We may get to see a connection to Lake Huron and have a band off of Lake Ontario dipping into Orleans county later on Sunday.
If the winds don't shift, portions of Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties could receive a shot of six inches of snow or more depending on intensity and duration.
The 7-First Alert Weather Team will be monitoring each day this week, providing you updates as soon as we have them.
