Coldest air of the season on tap for Western New York

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - BIG weather changes arrive in WNY this evening!

After a quiet morning & early afternoon, winds will jump from breezy to windy by 5pm with rain showers arriving for the drive home.

Showers arrive between 5-8 p.m. That will swiftly change from rain to snow after 8 p.m. tonight.

Temperatures will drop rapidly across all of WNY   creating icy patches on roads and sidewalks.

Areas on the hilltops in the Southern Tier have the opportunity to pick up 1-2" of snow through early Friday morning. Everybody else can expect a dusting.

A few lake flakes will fly Friday morning, but the bigger story will be the wind chill.  Air temperatures will be in the 20s, but it'll feel like it's in the teens!
