AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) - March 14th is better known as Pi Day, which celebrates the mathematical constant "Pi" or 3.14.

Students and teachers at Amherst Middle School celebrated in a very special way.

A competition was held at the school where students had the change to guess the circumference of a giant cardboard cookie since Pi the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter

Teachers also volunteered to get a pie in the face when specific goals were reached. The winner of each grade level received a cookie cake for their group.

The competition was not only fun, but was also for a good cause. Students at the event raised money for Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Carly's Club.
