BUFFALO, NY (WBWK) - Two boys, a 3-year-old and 14-year-old, were in critical but stable condition at Women and Children's Hospital late Monday night after being shot.

The older boy was reportedly shot in the leg, back and neck, according to sources. The 3-year-old was shot in the chest.

Neighbors reported hearing 10-12 gunshots at around 8:30 p.m. on Fennimore Avenue off Suffolk in the Bailey/Kensington Neighborhood.

A Buffalo Police spokesperson tells Eyewitness News that detectives are questioning individuals in connection with the shooting.

Law enforcement sources said Buffalo Police detectives are working on the early theory that the 14-year-old was the intended target and the 3-year-old was caught in the crossfire.

The shooting happened outdoors, while many children played outside.

No arrests had been made as of early Tuesday morning. Police continue to search for suspects.
