BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Thousands of Time Warner Cable customers across the country and in Western New York lost Internet access for several hours this morning.

Time Warner Cable said the outage occurred during routine maintenance and apologized for the service interruption on its Twitter account.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered the State Department of Public Service to investigate the interruption as part of its review of Comcast's proposed merger with Time Warner Cable.
