BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Holy Cross church on Buffalo's West Side is more than just a safe place to play basketball after school. More than a place to get a hot meal to ward off the pains of hunger.

A non-for-profit called Youth With A Purpose has been operating in the church's basement with a simple focus, building up kids and their self-esteem.

"Our mission statement says that all children are gifted," said the organization's director, Bob Kuebler. "We exist to identify, nurture, protect and empower kids to be the world-changers that God meant them to be."

Kuebler has been doing that for nine years on a shoestring budget. In the process, he has saved dozens of lives.
