While Thanksgiving is known for it's abundance of food and traditions, it doesn't mean you can't change things up just a bit.

Wegman's Buffalo Division Nutritionist Mallary Whipple said, a big part of staying on track during Turkey Day is changing your habits when it comes to portion control.

The perfect Thanksgiving plate should be half full of fruits and vegetables or a salad and then the other half should be filled with anything else you want like turkey, stuffing or potatoes.

Another tip, just because it has vegetables in it doesn't mean it's healthy.Instead of a green bean casserole that contains a lot of butter and cream try a light coat of basting oil.

If you're looking to change things up this year, Wegmans.com offers several healthy recipes.
