BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Amherst Police were led on a daring chase by a suspected bank robber Friday evening.

Police say 47-year-old Mark Daniels from Cheektowaga walked into the Evans National Bank on Sheridan Drive near Sweethome just after 5:30 p.m. and umped over the counter, forcibly taking money from the cashiers drawer.

Daniels then fled the bank and ran to his vehicle parked outside and drove toward Bailey Avenue.

Amherst Police located Daniel's vehicle on Bailey at Eggert Road and ordered him out of the car, but the suspect then drove at police officers trying to take him into custody.

According to police, a pursuit ensued with Amherst, Buffalo and University at Buffalo police giving chase.

Daniels eventually struck two vehicles at the intersection of Jefferson and Best Street, and then got out of his vehicle and fled on foot.

Daniels was caught after a brief chase and was taken into custody.

The drivers of the two vehicles Daniels hit were taken to area hospitals and treated for minor injures. Daniels was taken to ECMC for minor injuries and faces extensive charges.

Police were able to recover the stolen money.
