WNY (WKBW) - Residents in Erie County's South Towns are spending the day digging out from the first major snowfall of the season.

An overnight snow storm had roads crews working around the clock to try and keep ahead of Mother Nature.

The heaviest snow ended in the pre-dawn hours, but slippery and snow covered roads kept crews busy for most of the day.

By noontime, conditions on many roads had improved while business and home owners continued to clear away nearly one-foot of snow that had fallen.
