HAMBURG, NY (WKBW) It’s something none of us want to deal with, but in the Village of Hamburg, some rats have made themselves at home.

Residents, are not happy about this recent news.

The Village is working with the Erie County Health Department to try and take care of the problem. The village has applied for a grant to get residents new garbage totes and recycling bins, all with lids.

While the village is waiting for the grant to go through, Mayor Tom Moses is taking matters into his own hands.

Tuesday, Moses and volunteers from Hamburg High School handed out flyers to residents on tips to keep yards and surrounding areas clear of anything that could attract the pest.

Still, once there are rats, they need to be taken care of.

Hannah Buehler has more in the video about things you can do at home to get rid of the unwanted critters!
