BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Darius Pridgen wins the Democratic primary for the Ellicott District common council seat in Tuesday's special election.

That seat was vacated when Brian Davis was forced to resign amid scandal. The common council then appointed Curtis Haynes to fill the seat on an interim basis.

Pridgen, the pastor of True Bethel Baptist Church on Buffalo's east side, won big in the three-way race over incumbent Curtis Haynes and former Buffalo firefighter Byron McIntyre.

The council seat was up for grabs in Tuesday's special election because of Davis' resignation, however that district seat term comes up for election again next year.
