Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - Erin Matthewson is your typical 11-year-old girl in all respects, except one. She has cancer.

Two years ago, Erin was diagnosed with a rare cancer of the eye. She was treated and became a survivor for eight months. Then, it came back. And though she has to endure more treatments, she doesn't let it get her down.

"In my spare time, what I like to do is hang out with my sisters as much as I can and and hang out with my friends," said Erin. "Just have fun and forget about the whole cancer thing."

Erin is a 5th grader at Nichols Middle School. She attends class as much as she can and has a tutor come to the house when she can't.

Erin wants to become a fashion designer when she grows up. She likes music, Justin Bieber, and her favorite food is bacon.

"I'm looking forward to getting out of here, to get my last chemo all over so that I'm a survivor," said Erin. "Then I'm going to live my life."

Erin and her mother came up with a bracelet idea and managed to help raise more than $1,200 for cancer research and awareness.

She finished her last chemotherapy treatment at Roswell just the other day.
