BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - "We are here to rebuild and redevelop this neighborhood. This entire neighborhood,"

John Ciminelli, Senior Vice President at LP Ciminelli, Inc. emphasized the word neighborhood in his remarks on the redevelopment of Central Park Plaza.

LP Ciminelli is planning a master effort to completely plan, engineer and build the Leroy/Fillmore District of Buffalo.

"The Central Park Plaza property is a little over 27 acres and has the potential to hold anywhere from 350 to 450 housing units," he said.

New housing on new blocks making new streets that knit together a new neighborhood. Exciting for residents of Leroy/Fillmore who attended a planning meeting with the developer to offer suggestions.

"We would like to see more high-end and mid-income range housing to come in. Also, our senior population in Buffalo is rising, we need to develop some senior housing," said resident Melanie Johnson.

Neighbors attended a meeting at Buffalo PS 61 on Thursday night to offer feedback and suggestions for the project.

At the top of the list? A grocery store to replace the one that was in the former plaza.

"It was a great help to the community because it was a place where people could go to get fresh meats, fresh fruits. At this point in time we don't have anything in the community," said resident Daria Pratcher.
