BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - A former Buffalo Police Lt. who was out on paid leave due to an injury admitted that he could have returned to work but did not want to do so.

As a result, Patrick O'Mara received tens of thousands of dollars that he was not entitled to collect while being paid as Injured on Duty.

He pleaded guilty to wire fraud charges in U.S. District Court on Monday.

He faces eight to 18 months in prison when sentenced in July.
