NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) - A North Tonawanda teen is behind bars this afternoon after being charged with attempted murder.

Around 5 p.m. Saturday, North Tonawanda Police say they responded to a Hagen Avenue home for an assault involving a knife.

Officers found a 17-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his head and upper body. He was taken to ECMC where he was treated and released after several hours.

The suspect in the assault, 17-year-old Jordan Wankasky, fled on foot and was arrested a short time later by patrol officers.

Police say Wankasky was attempting to kill the victim after he had lost a fight with him several minutes earlier.

Wankasky is charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.

The name of the victim has yet to be released.
