NORTH COLLINS, NY (WKBW) - The Town of North Collins Highway Superintendent is facing charges of criminal mischief after he allegedly dumped a smelly liquid into a man's car.

The car owned by a doctor from Eden suffered $5,000 to the interior, according to the sheriff's department.

"Whatever efforts have been made to remove it have not been successful," said Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard.

Some people described the smelly substance as liquid manure.

David Winters was arraigned in Hamburg Town Court on Tuesday. The incident occurred at a North Collins hardware store. The Hamburg court is handling the case to avoid any potential conflict of interest.

Winters was released without bail.
