NEWFANE, NY (WKBW) - Seven members of the Newfane Boys Varsity Baseball Team will miss half the season, the entire team with forfeit the first two games of the season and there will be no participation in the post-season, school board members said on Tuesday night.

That is the punishment for the team after seven of its members were arrested and charged with shoplifting in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina earlier this month.

The team was at a pre-season baseball competition.

Parents of the remaining team members, who were not arrested or accused of wrongdoing, told board members that the punishment was unfair to their children.
