A new brewery could be headed to the downtown Buffalo area. Developer Carl Paladino wants to transform a century-old Perry Street building into a mixed-use structure anchored by market-rate apartments. The Erie County Industrial Development Agency has set a public hearing to consider incentives for Paladino's Ellicott Development Co. The Group wants to anchor the eight-story building with 20 apartments, along with a 3,000-square-foot restaurant and at least one craft brewery and office space. A public hearing on the $14 million project is slated for May 14th. A vote is expected about a week later.
This week's Business First includes a special report on doing business in the Southern Tier. Salamanca is hitting the jackpot with jobs, thanks to the Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel. It employs 1,042 workers, making it the largest employer in Salamanca. It's a tourism magnet that annually attracts more than 3 million people and recently completed a $58 million expansion to add 202 rooms to its hotel.
