BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - An NFTA police officer was taken to the hospital Friday morning after the officer's vehicle was involved in a multiple car rollover crash.
It happened at the intersection of Delaware Ave. and Bryant St. just before 8 a.m. Friday.
Officer Michelle Krezemien, a 30 year veteran of the NFTA Police, was rushed to ECMC where she was treated and released.
Officer Krezemien was responding to an emergency with lights and sirens turned on when she drove south on Delaware Avenue through the intersection of Bryant Street, officials said.
The officer crossed the intersection on a red light, but several people at the scene confirmed hearing the siren and seeing the flashing emergency lights.
A car going east on Bryant failed to yield the right of way to the emergency vehicle and collided with Krezemien's patrol car, officials said.
Krezemien's patrol car then hit a third vehicle.
The accident occurred at the same intersection where Buffalo Police Officer James Shields was killed in 2002 after his car crashed into a tree while responding to an emergency call.
