Buffalo, NY (WKBW) BlueCross BlueShield employees at the company's downtown headquarters on West Genesee Street can now rent bikes for free during business hours.

Starting Wednesday, 20 bicycles sporting the BCBS logo will be available to employees from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for use downtown. The company intends for employees to use the bikes to run errands, take a lunch break, or ride for fun.

Bicycles are available on a first come, first served basis. Employees will turn in their ID badge for a helmet, bike lock key, and downtown map to go with their rental bikes.

The company kicked off the rental program with an employee bike ride Tuesday morning.
