BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Buffalo is proving once again that it's the "City of Good Neighbors" even to people on the other side of the world.

26-year-old Phan Thi Ha flew into Buffalo from Vietnam Tuesday night.

Ha has a large nerve-tumor on the left side of her face that she will have removed at no cost by a local doctor.

The tumor left Ha homeless in Vietnam because of the stigma there surrounding this kind of medical issue.

Dr. Jeffrey Meilman will operate on Ha next week, removing the tumor and reconstructing her face during a 6-hour surgery.

Dr. Meilman's donation is part of the Hope for Tomorrow Foundation, and would have cost $60,000. Ha will stay with local Vietnamese families while she prepares for surgery and during her recovery.
