(WKBW) - A new company has unveiled wearable tech for your dog that fosters an active lifestyle and and guides you through the amazing journey of pet parenting.

FitBark is a wearable accelerometer you put on your dogs collar to monitor their activity.

How it works is that as dogs move about, their activity is captured and stored on the device. It calculates a minimum daily goal for physical activity.

Whenever it comes into the proximity of the owner's iPhone, the data is transferred to the FitBark app, giving dog owners real-time information about their pet's activity.

The app helps dog owners check on their dog whenever, wherever. This is especially helpful when you're traveling for an extended period of time, or if you work long hours.

The app also features BarkScore: The number that tells you how consistently your dog has been meeting his daily goal, and how you're doing as a dog parent.

You can review hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly trends to visually identify patterns and leverage the power of big dog data.

FitBark allows owners to ensure their dog is receiving the right amount of daily exercise to lead to a happy and healthy life.

The system is available for presale on their website, or right on their Kickstarter page.
