Amherst, NY (WKBW) - Loved ones and lawmakers gathered Monday morning for a permanent tribute to a Western New York hero.
The 990 is now named in honor of Army Staff Sergeant William Wilson III.
Wilson was killed in Afghanistan at a security checkpoint in March of 2012. He was shot to death by an Afghan police officer.
His mother, Kim Wilson, says she wants the name to serve as an honor, and for the community to "Live your life with Billy's values. Care for your neighbors. Watch out for everybody."
